In 1996 I was one of four founders of the MarketLinx software company. MarketLinx was the first company to successfully create an internet based multiple listing service (MLS) for a large real-estate board. In August 2003 the founders sold their remaining stock to First American, a fortune 400 company. At the time of the sale we had about 25% of the national MLS market with over 200,000 real-estate agents using our software.

Since late 2003, I've spent full time looking at ways to live more sustainably and to help others to live more sustainably. From reading and talking with many people, I believe creating a sustainable future is possible by making simple everyday choices that are consistent with a sustainable future. Some examples include: which grass to plant in the yard, which light bulb to buy, which car to buy, etc. Each choice we make moves use closer to or farther from sustainability.

Sustainable Future has investigated options for fulfilling its mission and has decided to focus on Zero Energy Houses. About 40% of U.S. energy goes into buildings with 21% of US energy being used for residential. A net Zero Energy House creates as much energy as it uses over the course of a year.
